Gypsy Moth

The European Gypsy Moth is a pest found throughout North America. The caterpillar eats the leaves of trees which may damage the overall health of the tree. Gypsy Moth populations have been in the City of Mississauga for many decades.

Cart Size Exchanges

Residents wishing to exchange the size of their garbage carts will be able to do so starting on April 1st. There is no cost to exchange your carts during the month of April. After that, a $25 exchange fee per cart will apply.

Public Meeting: Plans for Land on Winston Churchill Blvd

An application will be presented for the land (701 & 805 Winston Churchill Boulevard) that was formerly approved for the natural gas power generating station.   The application is proposing to remove permissions for the previously approved plans.

Waste collection shifts to Mondays

  • Waste Collection

The New Bi-Weekly Waste Collection in the Region of Peel now in effect: Pick-up date changed to Monday in Watercolours.

Beginning JANUARY 4, 2016, waste collection in the Region of Peel is changing to cart-based, bi-weekly collection. For residents in Watercolours it also mean a change of the pickup date to MONDAY.

  • The new bi-weekly schedule has us starting with GARBAGE and ORGANICS.
  • Next week will be RECYCLING AND ORGANICS.
  • Going forward GARBAGE and RECYCLING will alternate weeks, while ORGANICS is collected every week

Forest Restoration Plan Open House

Watercolours featured in TV Pilot

It seems Watercolours was the perfect location for scenes for a TV pilot being filmed around the GTA. On August 18, 2015, thanks to the cooperation of affected residents, the production filmed scenes along Canyon Street between Cobalt and Infinity as well as the Cobalt Street entrance resulting in the road closure for part of the day.

Please note that there will be filming of exterior scenes for an upcoming TV pilot currently entitled "Incorporated" for the SyFy Channel. "Incorporated" is an espionage thriller set in the future.

Filming will be on August 18, 2015 | 7:00am until 11:00pm

A temporary road closure has been permitted on Cobalt St from Indian Road to Canyon St between the hours of 9:00am – 3:00pm only. Peel Regional Police will be on site at all times to assist with road closure and traffic control.

Using Fireworks Safely on Canada Day

If you are planning to use fireworks (pdf) on Canada Day think safety first and take time to review the City’s Fireworks By-law 0293-2001 (pdf).


Did you know that fireworks can only be set off on two statutory holidays - Victoria Day and Canada Day. A permit is required to set off fireworks on any other day.

Permits are issued by the Fire Chief and only on the property listed on the permit.

By-law Highlights

  • Fireworks cannot be set off on a public street or roadway
  • Fireworks can only be set off in a park if a permit is obtained from the Fire Chief
  • Fireworks should only be purchased from a licensed retailer permitted to sell fireworks to the general public within the City of Mississauga as per By-law 1-06 and By-law 340-01
  • If you have concerns about fireworks that don't comply with City’s Fireworks By-law 0293-2001 and want to know where to report it. Here's how:

Road Resurfacing Work

MississaugaRoad Construction 800x400 2Resurfacing work for Mississauga Rd.from Lakeshore Rd. to the QEW has been sheduled . This work is expected to take approximately 6-8 weeks and is to commence June 23rd, subject to weather.

Let’s Play in the Park FREE Outdoor Summer Camps at Your Local Park

This FREE half-day, drop-in, summer camp is available at 13 local parks from June 29 to September 4, 2015.

All Mississauga children ages 6-12 are invited to come discover the fun and wonder of active play through physical activities, crafts, drama and games under the supervision of our High Five-trained leaders. Parents, grandparents and caregivers are welcome to stay and play, too. Come outside and play with us!

City Approves New Charges

Orange Pylons

Many of you may have undoubtedly seen the row of pylons stretching out along the north end of Canyon Street. After we made calls to City and Regional offices, we were informed that Rogers Communications has a permit to complete some conduit work, related to fiber optic upgrades. The permit is scheduled until April 30 but may be extended.

The affected streets are Canyon, Infinity, Sienna, and Indian Road.   Please be especially careful when driving in these areas as work vehicles will affect visibility and increase congestion.
