Councillor Alvin Tedjo is hosting a community safety meeting with Safe City Mississauga and Peel Regional Police for residents of Ward 2 on

Present were Ward 2 councillor Alvin Tedjo, MPP Rudy Cuzzetto, and representatives from Peel Regional Police and Safe City Mississauga.

Safe City Mississauga's presentation was all about Neighbourhood Watch and what communities that are part of the program have done to combat crime. The LPWRA is once again exploring participating in this program and we will update you soon.

Peel Police's presentation discussed other things like vehicle thefts. They provided attendees with a document containing a series of stats for 2023 (January 1 - November 30, 2023) for areas patrolled by the 10 & 11 Division. Below are highlights of some of the stats:

1. Residential Break-in: Total 588. (Ward 2: 48) - 8% of all Mississauga incidents

a. Most common entry methods:
17% through unlocked doors (garage doors mostly)
13% through smashed rear doors
13% through forced front doors
b. Approximately 50% of break-in incidents while occupants were home
c. Top 10% of incidents occurred between 11:00 pm - 5:00 am

2. Stolen Auto: Total 4149 (Ward 2: 210) - 5% of all reported incidents in Mississauga

a. 38% of vehicles stolen in Ward 2 were recovered
b. 66% were stolen from the driveway
c. Top 10 % of stolen vehicles occurred between 11:00 pm - 4:00 am
d. Most stolen vehicle makes: Ram 1500 (10%), Landrover, mostly Landrover (10%), and Lexus, mostly RX35 (10%)
e. Day of week when most vehicles were stolen: Wednesday (43 incidents), followed by Tuesday (41 Incidents)'

Overall Ward 2 is still one of the safest areas of Mississauga
