Boxwood Tree Moths in Watercolours

We've received a message from a Watercolour resident alerting us of an issue with Bowood tree moths that has decimated his boxwoods.

It is a caterpillar that only eats boxwood tree leaves for food that ultimately consumes the tree.   To find them, his suggestion was to look for the worms or the small spider-like webs.  Also, look for bees around your boxwoods. They feed on the worms.

Linked below are some articles that go into more detail.  One includes recommending using an organic treatment as being the most effective solution (Bacillus thuringiensis).   This article goes on to say chemical treatments have the disadvantage of killing off other insect species and negatively impacting bees and other insects in nature.
