STORMWATER MANAGEMENT POND MAINTENANCE (Facility 0801 - Palette Park)

As part of the ongoing maintenance program, the City of Mississauga has partnered with the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund (CWWF) to preform much needed maintenance on several City owned and operated storm water management facilities. The facility in your ward is located within Palette Park, with access off Renshaw Court and Hancock Way.

The scope of work for this project includes, but is not limited to: Installation and maintenance of temporary erosion and sediment control devices, dewatering and removal of sediment from the forebay, drying and disposal of sediment, rehabilitation of the pond geometry, flushing of outlet control structures and completion of minor repairs within the facility, vegetation management, site restoration and ESC removal.

During construction, the contractor will restore the perimeter fence. If you have any fixtures that may interfere with the proposed work on City property, the Contractor will remove them to complete their work. Any damage to private fixtures installed on City property will not be reinstalled or repaired by the City.  The City of Mississauga accepts no responsibility for any damages to private fixtures placed on City property.

This work is expected to commence the first week of February, and will take 8-12 weeks to complete, weather dependant.

For more information regarding the construction, please contact @ 905-615-3200:

  • Ms. Emily Pellejà, Project Manager: extn. 3699
  • Mr. Kevin Offless, City Inspector: extn. 3051

The City's contractors will be dewatering the Lorne Park Watercolours Storm Pond (#801), likely the first week of October 2017, to allow for a fish/turtle collection (if present) to be completed.

The purpose of this work is to prepare the pond for the upcoming clean out later this Fall.  Prior to the commencement of the clean-out, formal notice of construction will be provided.

If you have any questions or concerns about the work being planned, please email us or contact Scott Perry, Storm Drainage Coordinator, Environmental Services Section at 905-615-3200 ext.5161 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If you've walked in our neighbourhood park or walkways, you no doubt noticed paint peeling from our beautiful pergolas.   Over the years, the LPWRA has been working with the City of Mississauga to have these repainted.  In spite of our repeated efforts to have them re-painted they continue to peel.   We wanted to assure you that we have been communicating with city staff on getting them cleaned up and wanted to provide you with an update.

You may have noticed some fluorescent pink markings on our neighbourhood sidewalks.  We wanted to inform you that today the City of Mississauga inspected the sidewalks in Watercolours. They have marked those in need of repair with pink fluorescent paint. Crews will be scheduled to make the repairs. Should you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the City at 311.

We are looking for volunteers to help without the annual cleanup of our community.   Bags and cleaning supplies will be provided by the City.

Just bring some friends and a spring-cleaning attitude.

This year we had we had 8 volunteers help out.  Thank you to Margaret Morse and our six grade 9 student volunteers...Julia Craig, Nikki Warren, Michaela Laurie, Kristen Morse, Pedro Brito Ribeiro and Kyle Brito Ribeiro.  Four of the students are Watercolours' residents and two are friends of residents.  Now, that's friendship!  Students earned a few community volunteer hours.    We picked up a lot of garbage and had some exercise and fun in the process.
