Watercolours News

News relating to Watercolours (with the exception of beautification, safety and social news) is posted here.

Watercolours Incorporated

It seems Watercolours was the perfect location for scenes for a TV pilot being filmed around the GTA. On August 18, 2015, thanks to the cooperation of affected residents, the production filmed scenes along Canyon Street between Cobalt and Infinity as well as the Cobalt Street entrance that resulted in the road closure for part of the day.

The TV pilot, being produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's Pearl Street Productions, CBS Television Studios and Universal Cable Productions for the SyFy Channel is entitled "Incorporated". Set in the dystopian future where global corporations have limitless power.  The series follows Ben Larson, who is forced to change his identity to infiltrate a cut-throat corporate world to save the woman he loves. Filming will continue around the GTA until September.

Beginning JANUARY 4, 2016, waste collection in the Region of Peel is changing to cart-based, bi-weekly collection.

abhey smalldoctors without borders mdecins sans frontires msf thumbWhen we learned about the plans for Watercolours' resident Abhey Sur to climb Mount Kilimanjaro we were compelled to share the news.  We join Abhey's parents, LPWRA members Smeeksha Sur & Shiv Singh in supporting this great initiative.

14 year old Abhey, who hopes to be a doctor one day is fundraising for Doctors Without Borders by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro!  Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest 'walkable' mountain in the world.  The trek to the summit is a magnificent and spectacular 5-9 night undertaking and ranks amongst the greatest outdoor challenges on the planet.  Abhey will begin his trek on December 20 and hopes to reach the summit on Christmas Day.

We are hoping our community can acknowledge this incredible endeavour by donating to Doctors Without Borders in response to this initiative.  For more information, please follow the link to his fundraising page.
